During the FINA General Congress on Friday July 26 in Barcelona the five continental organisation

s will propose their candidates for the FINA Bureau-elections. The Royal Dutch Swimming Federation presents its president Erik van Heijningen as a candidate for the post of Bureau Member, through the 'world at large'-elections.
 
Since 2001 Erik van Heijningen has built up a long and wide experience in the world of public government, law and sport. Since 2006 he is Member of the LEN-Bureau, since 2008 Vice-President. Since 2009 he is acting Chairman of the FINA doping Panel. Due to this experience and his knowledge of several languages he is ready to make this step to the FINA-Bureau led by the well-respected FINA President Julio Maglione.
He will represent the interests of the LEN-members in the best possible way, serving LEN-President Paolo Barelli and in good cooperation with the other LEN-representatives Dimitris Diathesepoulos, Tamas Gyarfas and David Sparkes. It is a common task to serve the interests of international aquatics, together with all federations and continental organisations.
 
The Dutch Federation will also support Vladimir Salnikov as 'world at large'-candidate for the Bureau membership. His experience as President of the Russian Swimming Federation and impressive sport career in swimming show he is "the right man in the right place"!

Would you like to go to the Arena European Masters Championships in Eindhoven Masters but you do not want to stay in a hotel? Good news, now you can also camp on the only real Masters Camping at the Ice sport centre Eindhoven in Genneper Parken. The campsite is located within walking distance of the pool. So at the end of the day you can easily walk home. The camping site has all facilities such as a shower and toilet, which can be used in Ice sport centre Eindhoven.

Medal design EC Masters 2013 unveiled

The winning medal design for the EC Masters 2013 has been unveiled at the Dutch Open Masters Championships in Eindhoven this weekend. The EC participants chose unanimously for the design of Karel de Bruijn in the poll. He is active in Dutch diving. The other nominees were Daisy Renders and Ron Langelaan. The winning medal design may be adjusted according to the guidelines of LEN European Swimming Federation.

Open water location announced!

The Open Water Swimming Event will be held in the canal in the eastof Eindhoven on Saturday September 7th. You will swim in a straight line 3 km from the start to the finish arriving in the center of Eindhoven. Transportation for the competitors between start and finish will be arranged. Swim in this unique location through Eindhoven too and sign up for the Open Water Swimming Event through the registration. More information can be found here.

Last month, the organizing committee searched for people who dared to design the medal for the EC Masters 2013. The three best designs have been picked out of a large number of original designs by the organization. The registered participants are asked to bring their vote to the best design. The big winner of the medal contest will be announced 3 to 5 May during the Dutch Open Masters Championships in Eindhoven. The winning design will be submitted to the LEN and reproduced approximately.

After the site visit of the LEN (Ligue Européenne de Natation) Masters committee on august 13 and 14 the program and the dates have been finalized. First day will be on Saturday august 31st and the last day on Saturday September the 7th. Please check our website for the details. New is that swimming will be spread over 6 days instead of 5.

This morning, the LEN European Swimming Federation announced that the organization of the 2013 Masters Championship has been assigned to the Royal Dutch Swimming Association. Eindhoven will be the setting of the event including Swimming, Diving, Open Water Swimming and Synchronised Swimming. The KNZB celebrates its 125 - year anniversary in 2013 and the celebration of this anniversary will be concentrated around this tournament.

In the Masters Championships about 5,000 athletes aged 25 and older are expected. Though for many the adage Fitness, Fun and Friendship is more important than the performance, many athletes still train at an elite level and in the European record lists several former Olympians can be found.

The Netherlands successfully hosted the European Championships Swimming (Eindhoven 2008 and 2010) and will be the host of the European Water Polo Championships, the European Diving Championships and the LEN Cup Final in Open Water Swimming in 2012. The KNZB picture of an athletes village in the region, the Dutch hospitality, the well-experience organisation, and the splendid accessibility of the Netherlands by car, train and airplane convinced the LEN bureau including KNZB president Erik van Heijningen to accept the Dutch bid. Olympic champion Jolanda de Rover and Inge de Bruijn supported the bid with a video message.
 


Never before an international Masters Championships took place in the Netherlands. After hosting the European Championships for all sport disciplines, the Masters complete the series of major European swimming tournaments.

Besides the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia and Turkey presented strong bids for the Masters.
